(Toho University ) Japanese scientists at Toho University in Tokyo discovered a new mechanism to generate regulatory T cells (Treg cells), lymphocytes preventing autoimmunity and excess immune responses. They found that a gene called JunB mediates signaling of the cytokine interleukin-2 (IL-2) to facilitate generation of Treg cells, raising the possibility that JunB might be a target to expand Treg cells.
